Synopsis
On a beautiful Sunday morning in mid-October, three housemates decide to have scotch for breakfast in this play by the author of Spike Heels, The Family of Mann, and Loose Knit. Elly is pregnant and considering an abortion, Jen is being harassed by a co-worker who is obsessed with her, and Gayle just feels a bit lost. Their problems are compounded by a fourth roommate, Jessica, a religious young woman who has little compassion for their confused attempts to make sense of life in the nineties. As they drink, joke, and argue it becomes clear how difficult it is to make a moral decision in an increasingly complex world.

This play requires 4 females aged roughly from 20’s to 40’s.

Elly: A woman who is pregnant by a boyfriend she doesn’t love and is contemplating an abortion. She is described as pugnaciously negative-minded and decides that scotch for breakfast is a good way to start her Sunday.

Jen: A party girl whose personal struggles involve a male coworker who is obsessively pursuing her romantically, a situation she finds frustrating.

Gayle: A seemingly lost young woman who often acts as the peacekeeper between her housemates. She tries to mediate between the others and is the most likely to bridge the gap between Jessica and the younger roommates.

Jessica: An older, more religious, and judgmental roommate who presents herself as a perfect person. Her attempts at reconciliation with the other tenants are unsuccessful, and she is often at odds with the others, particularly Elly.

Rehersals begin January 2026
Perfomance dates: April 17 & 18, 2026
